USNEA LICHEN
Usnea, also known as old man’s beard, is a type of lichen that grows on trees and rocks with characteristics of a fungus and an algae. According to the institute of traditional medicine, usnea lichen has been used for over 1,500 years as a healing compound in native American, Chinese, and European medicine. Usnea lichen is known for its “cooling and drying” energetic properties and its ability to “clear heat, move damp, and resolve toxicity.” Usnea contains usnic acid and has shown to slow and prevent the growth of bacteria, which helps stop underarm odor.
DIATOMACEOUS EARTH
Diatomaceous earth is a naturally occurring, soft, and super fine plant and algae fossil that is crushed into a fine powder and used in our deodorants to neutralize odor and absorb moisture. This ingredient also works to help draw out any toxins and heavy metals from the body. Diatomaceous earth is almost perfectly ph neutral, meaning it will not irritate skin like other acidic or alkaline-laden deodorants.
